Liquid Membrane

Liquid roofing systems involve protection of a roof structure by means of a liquid synthetic resin based application, which solidifies to create a seamless waterproof barrier. They are easy to use & maintain and are cost-effective and versatile.

Liquid coatings are popular for refurbishment of roof structures. They can be applied over the existing roof covering, avoiding the need to strip the roof. Liquid systems are particularly useful where access is restricted or where a building is too sensitive to remove the existing roof covering.

Liquid Membranes have many benefits:

  • Seamless protection
  • Contain UV protectors and are therefore highly resistant to sunlight
  • Can be applied over existing roof structure – therefore no need for stripping the roof
  • Reduced risk of surface blistering, as the liquid membranes are vapour permeable.
  • Anti-slip and colour-defined walkways/areas can be easily produced.
  • Easily applied with brushes – therefore great for areas with difficult access.

Tecta Roofing can provide guarantees for the use of liquid coatings. Liquid Membranes can be used for waterproofing repairs or refurbishments on the following surfaces:

Mineral finished flat roofs
Mastic Asphalt                                                         liquid membrane 1
Concrete
Metal sheeting
Guttering
Pipe work
Brickwork
Timber
Steel

Liquid Membranes are extremely versatile and can be utilised for many different duties for example:

  • Waterproofing repairs & refurbishment (including emergency repairs)
  • New roof surfaces
  • Granules can be added to provide anti-slip surfaces – ideal for walkways, balconies, car park surfaces, wet rooms etc.
  • Coloured powder can be added to create coloured surfaces.

The range of polymers used for liquid applied roofing is wide, including acrylic resins, polyurethanes, polyesters, silicones, rubber copolymers and modified bitumen.  Glass-fibre or polyester mat is used as reinforcement within the membrane layer. Additives to improve fire resistance can be included.
